The Scottish Society for Autism organised a 5-a-side tournament at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange on the 18th of January 2003. Having put together a team comprised mainly of Royal Bank of Scotland employees, we were delighted when we went on to win it, beating Standard Life 1-0 in a tense final!

The photo was taken at a later date. Those in the photo are (top row, left to right) Martin Kay, Michael O'Hara, Dougy Watt, Dave Thomas, Ronnie MacDonald and (bottom row, left to right) Ross Donald and me. Martin was a photo stand-in, as our real goaly (Paddy O'Connell) couldn't make the photo-shoot!

Gobolino. 1986 - 2005. Here's a poem in his memory.

'Little Brother'

Loud he did call
And insistent too
And we children skidded to a halt.
Beside the barn, on the ground, was a mother cat
Lying serene but her eyes were sadly glazed and dead.

Again he called
And louder still
Shrieking from his perch upon the bails of hay.
A little thing, jet black, scrawny with eyes of yellow green
Peering down at us, his head tilted
Surveying us strange creatures in between more fervent wails.

Upon handlebars, his next perch, we gently carried him home
And excited asked that he come stay with us
Who could refuse such an orphan waif?
And soon he was climbing our curtains and claiming his chair
Chasing shadows and stalking birds
that took flight before he was near.

By my side through my teenage years and then on beyond
Always there to greet me when from school I returned
Destroyer of my homework when cuddles I declined
Comforter, friend, confidant, little brother
Sneaking in under the duvet to sleep by my side.

Pet is not the right word
A goldfish is a pet.
My Gobolino is a life friend
Whom I’ll cherish until the end
Source of so much happiness
Soft and gentle, my beautiful cat
Whether somersaulting as a kitten
Or purring peaceful on my lap now this late in life.

This is a Fantasy Barrs team photo dating back to 2002 I think. Top left to right is Chris, Paddy, Ross, and someone whose name I can't remember! Bottom left to right is Olof, me, Sam and Kevin. Unfortunately the sun was shining (a rare occurrence!) so most of us have our eyes closed!

My brother, and ex Fantasy Barrs player (one guest appearance I think!), Stephen. He's the one on the left, here captured executing a crunching tackle. The photo made it onto the back pages of his local paper!

Stephen 'bite your legs' Wright!
